Digital X-Rays & Sensors

Our low-dose digital x-rays allow our family dentist to see the parts of a tooth we can't see with a visual exam alone. The flat digital sensors we use replace uncomfortable film clips that you hold between your teeth and also produce sharper, crisper images.

By sharing the images with you, we can show you what we see to help you better understand our treatment recommendations. Digital x-rays are better for the environment because there are no harmful chemicals to dispose of as there are with traditional film x-rays.

If you've had dental impressions taken with soft, messy putty, you know how uncomfortable they can be. Sometimes, the results weren't as precise as needed, and the process would be repeated. At Clarendon Family Dentistry, we use advanced intraoral scanners to produce digital 3-D models without the mess.

The process involves moving the small handheld scanner over your teeth and watching as it builds the 3-D model on a computer monitor. Taking impressions this way is far more comfortable and also delivers precise images that allow us to custom craft highly accurate restorations like crowns and bridges.

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera is a device that captures real-time images of your mouth as your dentist moves it over your teeth. The images appear on the TV screen, and you and Dr. Mooney can review them together. Using these images, she can see what isn't apparent during a visual exam and explain her findings.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and seeing what Dr. Mooney sees enables you to understand your dental health and treatment needs better, empowering you to make confident, informed decisions.

Panoramic X-Rays

Digital x-rays are indispensable but only show a few teeth at a time. When Dr. Mooney needs a broader view, she turns to panoramic x-rays. This x-ray produces a comprehensive image of all your teeth, jaw joints, sinuses, abnormal growths, cysts, and tumors. Panoramic x-rays provide valuable information about the jaw structure and tooth positioning and help us plan and diagnose a range of dental treatments, including Invisalign®, dentures, and TMJ issues.
